The Bachelor of Chinese Medicine program at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) is a four-year undergraduate program designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of Chinese medicine, including acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and traditional Chinese medical diagnosis. The program aims to equip graduates with the knowledge and skills necessary to practice Chinese medicine as registered practitioners.
The program is divided into two stages. In the first two years, students will be exposed to the fundamental concepts and theories of Chinese medicine, including its history and development, traditional Chinese medical diagnosis, acupuncture and moxibustion, Chinese herbal medicine, and basic Western medical knowledge. In the third and fourth years, students will undertake more advanced coursework in Chinese medicine, including specialized subjects such as gynecology and pediatrics, dermatology, and orthopedics.
In addition to the theoretical coursework, the program includes clinical training to provide students with practical experience in treating patients. This includes clinical observation and practice at XMUM's affiliated hospital, as well as other Chinese medicine clinics.
Upon graduation, students will be eligible to sit for the Malaysian Qualifying Examination in Traditional Chinese Medicine, which is necessary to practice as a registered Chinese medicine practitioner in Malaysia. The program also prepares students for further studies in Chinese medicine or related field.
